Abstract
1,233,342. Fusible cut-outs. N. T. BOWMAN. 19 Dec., 1969 [19 Dec., 1968], No. 62019/69. Heading H2G. A fusible cut-out for use with a battery charger comprises a container 4 inside which metal conductors 5 are joined by a fusible member 7. The fusible member 7 is melted by heat from the battery when the latter becomes over-heated (e.g. at 110‹ F.). By inverting the box 4 in hot water, after member 7 has melted and collected in well 8 the fusible material thereof can be brought back to inter-connect again the conductors 5. The member 7 may be of metal or of wax with a layer of mercury and the box 4 may be of transparent plastics material.
