Abstract

1,232,725. Magnetic tripping devices. FELTEN & GUILLEAUME A.G. 21 Oct., 1969 [22 Oct., 1968], No. 51521/69. Heading H1N. A magnetic tripping device, e.g. for a circuit breaker, consists of two ferromagnetic plates 4, 5 separated by a non-ferromagnetic material 6 and bridged on an edge by both a permanent magnet 1 and a spring biased armature 3, the plates being formed with openings accommodating one or more energizing windings 2 and forming closed magnetic circuits for the energizing flux, the circuits having a smaller crosssection adjacent the armature 3. The armature is normally held, against the bias of a spring 7, in engagement with the plates 4, 5. Energization of the coil causes the flux of the permanent magnet to be displaced below the surface of the plates by the high energizing flux to release the armature.
