Abstract
1,230,301. Testing porosity. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. March 26, 1969 [March 29, 1968], No. 15779/69. Heading G1S. An electro-chemical process for detecting porous zones in film material comprises bringing one surface of the film into contact with ions X and the other surface into contact with a reagent containing ions Y, the ions X being displaced by the application of an electric field and migrating more easily through the porous zones to form a compound XY which shows as a visible coloration on the surface of the film in contact with the reagent. As shown, the process is used to detect porous zones in a latex glove, the glove being filled with an electrolyte containing a nickel salt. An electrode 5 which generates nickel ions is immersed in the electrolyte and connected to a source of positive potential. A tank 2 is connected to a source of negative potential and contains a sodium dimethylglyoxime solution.
