[Also in Divisions C3, C4 and C5] Novel polyethers of formula in which [O] is an oxygen atom randomly distributed along the chain and linked in the peroxidic form, A and B are the same or different -CF 3 , -COF or -CF 2 COF groups, P and Q are integers, R is O or an integer, P + Q is 2 to 200, the ratio Q: P is between 0À1 and 10, the ratio R: P is 0 to 1, and the ratio R: (P + Q + 1) is 0 to 0À8, are prepared by oxidation of tetrafluoroethylene in solution with molecular oxygen in the presence of U.V. radiation, the reacting solution being kept saturated with molecular oxygen. Tetrafluoroethylene epoxide is obtained as a by-product.
