Abstract

1,212,435. Feeding sweets &c. between endless conveyers. ROSE FORGROVE Ltd. 24 Nov., 1969 [28 Nov., 1968], No. 56420/68. Heading B8A. A device for feeding articles such as sweets from disorderly array into single file, comprises an article-feeding band 16 arranged to be driven at a predetermined linear speed, an articlereceiving band 23 arranged to be driven at a linear speed higher than that of the band 16, a diagonal deflector plate 21 arranged over the article-feeding band 16 to guide the articles towards one side of that band so as to pass on to a side portion the band 23, and a deflector belt 26 arranged for movement diagonally of the band 23, one lap of which forms one side of a guide channel 32, so as to guide the articles towards the guide channel as they are received by the band 23. The band 16 is fed by a more slowly running band conveyer 12. A spring- loaded tongue 33 tends to align sweets 11 when they arrive at the channel 22 with their major axes perpendicular to the band 26. The channel 22 feeds the sweets to an endless band 36 forming the base of a further channel 34 leading to a wrapping machine (not shown). A photoelectric unit 41 initiates starting and stopping of the belt 12 according to the presence or absence of gaps in the flow of articles on the belt 36.
