Abstract

1,211,560. Dishwashing machines. WILKINS & MITCHELL Ltd. 20 Feb., 1969 [23 Dec., 1967], No. 58555/67. Heading A4F. [Also in Divisions D1] A dish washing machine has a detergent drawer receiving portion 21 with an opening to the outside wall of the casing and first and second hot and cold water inlets at least one of which discharges into drawer 23 when in position so that the water and detergent flows from the portion 21 through a duct (18) into the washing compartment (16), Fig. 1 (not shown), an overflow 49 being provided in portion 21 below at least the second inlet and above the normal water level in portion 21 during filling. Portion 21 and drawer 23 are moulded from plastic and the drawer 23 is divided into main wash and pre-wash detergent compartments 33, 34 and has flanges 46 which engage channels 28 in portion 21. Hot water inlet 30 and cold water inlets 31, 32 are connected to a raised portion of portion 21 above the front of drawer 23 at whose outlet end rubber curtains 42, 43 are provided to hold the detergent before washing out, the outlet of portion 21 having cross vanes 48 to retain large foreign bodies. In a modification, one compartment only is provided in the drawer and the cold water supply may not pass through the drawer.
