Abstract

1,209,697. Removing moulded articles from moulds. SOBREFINA S.A. 17 July, 1969 [29 Aug., 1968], No. 41371/68, Heading B5A A deep drawn article is removed from its mould by a member which is inserted into the article, expanded radially to frictionally grip it, and then withdrawn. In the embodiment shown in the Figure, the member, which is carried on the arms of a rotating cross 1, comprises a cylinder 2 screwed to the cross and a piston 4 slidable within the cylinder, the piston being biased toward its retracted position by a spring 6 interposed between the piston and a post 5 screwed to the cylinder. A sleeve 7 is slidably located between the piston and cylinder and its forward end engages one side of a rubber 0-ring the other side of which is engaged by a flange 9 on the forward end of the piston. In operation, pressure with the cross forwarded to its operative position, pressure fluid, such as compressed air, is admitted behind the piston through ducts 11 and 12 and the piston is forwarded into the article. At the same time the sleeve 7 is forwarded and the 0-ring is squeezed between the sleeve and the flange and radially expands into contact with the interior of the article so that upon subsequent retraction the cross the article is drawn out of the mould.
