Abstract

1,203,514. Oil filter. U.C.C. FILTERS (HYDRAULICS) Ltd. 14 Jan., 1969 [18 Jan., 1968], No. 2794/68. Heading B1D. A filter, for an I.C. engine oil circuit or a hydraulic power circuit, comprises two annular filter elements demountably assembled one inside the other and comprising respective perforated metal supporting tubes 3, 7 encompassed by axially pleated sections of wire mesh, the tube and mesh of each element being moulded into plastics end rings 6, 10, rings 10 making a close fit inside rings 6. Filtration is inwards and outer mesh 5 may be phosphor bronze of 125 micron porosity while mesh 9 is stainless steel of 18 microns. Annular metal end caps 11 fit over the end rings to hold the elements together, and carry sealing rings 13. Or one or both ends of the filter may be internally or externally screw-threaded. The filter is dismantled and the elements cleaned separately.
