Abstract
1,197,435. Fish gutting machine. R. JOHANNESSON. 31 Aug., 1967 [7 Sept., 1966], No. 39950/66. Heading A2U. A fish gutting machine comprises a large cutting disc 7 flanked by two smaller cutting discs 6, 8, the discs being toothed and coaxially mounted on shaft 5 driven by motor 4, a fish support or guide 2 positioned such that the medial line of the fish is substantially aligned with the central disc 7, and a wooden stripper blade 9 mounted a guide 1 and having slots 11 each accommodating part of a cutting disc. A rail 15 may be mounted on guide 2 or housing 3 to assist or effect advance of the fish to the discs. The machine may be provided with water sprays which are applied to the discs, guide and blade. The fish is advanced, e.g. manually, towards the discs by movement approximately radially of the discs such that the rotating discs slit the pectoral body of the fish and extract gut, the extracted gut being shredded and removed from the discs by the stripper blade. The fish is then withdrawn lengthwise, e.g. tail first, to complete gut extraction.
