Abstract

1,190,247. Electromagnetic contactsor. ARROW ELECTRIC SWITCHES Ltd. 6 Sept., 1967 [13 Dec., 1966], No. 40724/67. Heading H1N. The contact pressure between contact bridge 23 and fixed contacts 22 is increased by the provision of a rigid conducting member 30 connected to one fixed contact 22 and extending generally parallel to the fixed contacts and bridge. When current flows from terminal 27 through fixed contacts 22, bridge 23 and conducting member 30 to terminal 32 the bridge 23 is electrodynamically repelled by the member 30 to increase the contact pressure. Member 30 is located in a slot in a hood 25. Each pole of the three-pole contactor shown has its own conducting member 30 to increase contact pressure.
