Abstract

1,180,557. Fluid switch. DOWTY FUEL SYSTEMS Ltd. 6 June, 1967 [20 June, 1966], No. 27493/66. Heading G4P. [Also in Division G3] A bi-stable, Y-shaped wall attachment fluid switch is characterized in that at least one of the output channels leads to a vortex chamber. In a first embodiment, Fig. 1, one output channel 17 enters the vortex chamber radially and the other 18 enters tangentially so that when the power jet flows in channel 17 no vortex is created and a pressure (of about 80% of the input pressure) builds up at an outlet orifice 26, 28 (see also Fig. 2) but when the power jet flows along channel 18 a vortex is formed, fluid from its low pressure centre exhausts via a vent 24, 29 and a low pressure is applied to the output 26, 28. In a second embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) each output channel 17, 18 enters a vortex chamber radially and the two vortex chambers are connected by a tangentially entering pipe.
