Abstract

1,177,833. Ring spinning or twisting apparatus. MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER A.G. 26 Jan., 1967 [26 Jan., 1966], No. 3926/67. Heading D1D. A spindle 2, Fig. 1, of ring spinning or twisting apparatus has an underwinding member 9 having a circumferential groove 10 and transverse slots 16. In use, when a bobbin has been wound, the traveller 6 is lowered until the yarn enters a transverse slot 16 and starts to be wound in the groove 10, the traveller 6 then lowers further so that the yarn leaves the groove 10 by another slot 16 and is wound for a part of a turn onto the spindle at 20, the traveller is then raised so that the yarn again enters the groove 10 by way of a further slot 16 to wind a few turns in the groove until the spindle stops. The yarn is then cut at R and the bobbin removed. Raising of the traveller 6 causes the yarn to leave the groove 10 by way of a slot 16 and winding may recommence on a fresh empty bobbin tube. In a modified arrangement, Fig. 3, instead of winding onto the cylindrical surface 20 the yarn is received in another groove 35 inclined inwardly and below the main groove 34 of underwinding member 33.
