Abstract
1,141,448. X-ray tubes. TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 30 June, 1967 [30 June, 1966], No. 30297/67. Heading H1D. An X-ray tube is provided with a plurality of cathode assemblies 4 each mounted on a respective radial arm 15 extending from a common metallic stem 7a secured to a re - entrant portion of the envelope. Each cathode assembly comprises a cup - shaped control electrode 18 with grid wires across its open end and containing an electron emissive filament; the three lead-in wires for these electrodes are covered by a shield 22 and pass through the stem 7a. If the arms 15 are metallic the electrodes 18 are insulated from them by washers 16, but the arms 15 may be of ceramic or other insulating material. In the example shown there are two cathode assemblies arranged so that the points of impact 12 of the electrons from them on the rotating anode 3 are spaced apart by a distance equal to the distance between human eyes.
