Abstract

1,128,163. Dischargers for pyrotechnic devices. SCHERMULY Ltd. 1 Feb., 1966 [2 Feb., 1965], No. 4424/65. Heading F3A. A discharger for a pyrotechnic device is provided with a spring- stressed striker held in a retracted position by a slotted plate and has a firing member 4 attached to or integral with the plate 3, the member 4 being linked to the barrel 1 of the discharger at the end remote from the plate 3 and spaced from the barrel in the region of the plate 3 in such a way that by moving the member 4 in the said region towards the barrel, the plate 3 moves through the distance necessary to release the striker. In Fig. 1 the member 4 is integral with plate 3 and at its free end has an eye-piece secured to brackets 15 by a split-pin 14. Near the plate 3 the member 4 is held away from the barrel 1 by split-pin 16 extending through brackets 17. To fire a rocket or the like, the rocket is placed in barrel 1 and the pin 16 is then removed. By squeezing the member 4 against the barrel, it pivots around pin 14 and forces plate 3 to the release position. The member 4 may be fixed at its free end and is then made of flexible material deforming under pressure to move the plate 3. The movement may alternatively be produced by allowing pivot 14 to ride in slots (23), Fig. 6 (not shown).
