Abstract

1,096,234. Valves. SOC. ANON. FRANCAISE DU FERODO. May 18, 1965 [May 19, 1964], No. 21058/65. Heading F2V. A valve with an inlet 2 and outlet 3 connected through a seat 8 has a further outlet 4 upstream of the seat, which latter has one or more recesses 9 therein to provide for a bleed connection between the inlet and outlet when a diaphragm closure 5 coacts with the seat, the bleed ceasing when the diaphragm is further depressed and so squeezed on to the seat. The diaphragm is connected to an operating stem by a disc 13 relatively rotatable thereto, the stem being rotated by handle 14 connected thereto and undergoing a helical motion as the result of a fixed stud 11 engaging a helical stem groove 10. The groove 10 is arranged to provide for a non-linear relationship between movements of the handle and stem. In the fully open position a diaphragm surface 15 abuts a casing surface 16. The groove 10 may be disposed in a plastics sleeve around the stem and the stud 11 may be located in an eccentric member or the operative end 11a of the stud may be eccentric relative to the stud. The bleed recess may be embodied in the diaphragm instead of the seat. Two co-operating resilient elements may be provided.
