Abstract

A dental impression material comprises a water soluble (e.g sodium, potassium or ammonium) alginate, a gelling agent therefor (e.g. calcium or lead sulphate) and 2-25% by weight of a water soluble film forming organic polymer (e.g. polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene oxide, polyvinyl pyrollidone, polyacrylamide, hydroxyethyl cellulose and methyl cellulose). The mixture may be in powdered form which is then introduced into water for use or the material may be made in the form of a sachet or envelope made of the organic polymer, containing the other components before being introduced into water. Other components which may be present include glycerol and polyethylene oxide as plasticizers, and kieselguhr, magnesium oxide, zinc oxide, sodium carbonate, sodium phosphate, sodium fluoride, wetting agents, pigments and flavouring agents.ALSO:A dental impression material comprises a water soluble (e.g sodium, potassium or ammonium) alginate, a gelling agent therefor (e.g. calcium or lead sulphate) and 2-25% by weight of a water soluble film forming organic polymer (e.g. polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene oxide, polyvinyl pyrollidone, polyacrylamide, hydroxyethyl cellulose and methyl cellulose).
