Abstract

1,063,157. Stoppers. ALBERTO-CULVER CO. March 1, 1966 [April 21, 1965], No. 8943/66. Heading B8T. A dispensing stopper (14), Fig. 2 (not shown), of plastics for a plastics bottle (10), is provided with an elongated tapered spout (15), and may be mounted on the bottle neck (11) with the spout projecting either into or out from the bottle. An internally threaded skirt (17) projecting on the same side of the stopper as the spout (15) may be screwed on to exterior threads (13) around the bottle neck to secure the stopper with its spout inside the bottle. Alternatively, a circular bead (28), Fig. 3 (not shown), on the opposite side of the stopper, may be press-fitted inside the bottle neck by means of a sharply tapered lead-in surface (27), when a shoulder (24) on the stopper locks behind a lip (25) around the inside of the bottle neck, and the spout (15) projects outwards from the bottle. The tip (20) of the spout (15) may then be cut, &c., to allow the contents of the bottle to be extruded. The sharply tapered lead-in surface (27) may be replaced by a gradually tapered lead-in surface (127), Fig. 4 (not shown). The press-fit connection (24, 25) may be replaced by an internally-threaded skirt (222), Fig. 5 (not shown), allowing the stopper to be screwed on to the bottle neck with the spout (215) projecting outwards.
