Abstract

1,059,157. Bar-feeding devices. M. VON BUSHE, and T. ALTENBRACHT. March 26, 1965 [June 9, 1964], No. 13019/65. Headings B3B and B3T. A machine for rough-turning or descaling bars or tubes comprises two pairs of feed rollers (10, 1Oa) (11, 11a) Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), which feed the material to be machined into a rotating cutter head (2) driven by an electric motor (5) and a withdrawal carriage (16) which receives the machined material as it passes from the cutter head. Jaws (16a) mounted on the carriage 16 effect the withdrawal of the material with the carriage and prevent rotation of the bar during the machining operation. The speed of the feed rollers and the withdrawal carriage are synchronized so as to effect uninterrupted withdrawal of the material. The actuation of the rollers and carriage is provided by hydraulic means in the form of an hydraulic motor (12) which drives the rollers and a piston and cylinder assembly (15) which drives the carriage on a roller bed (18). Alternative hydraulic circuits for the operation of the machine are described.
