Abstract

1,037,696. Valves. DANFOSS A.S. June 4, 1963 [June 5, 1962], No. 22219/63. Heading F2V. A pressure control valve comprises a cylindrical housing 1 having an inlet port 3, an outlet port 2 and a relief port 4. A piston 5 is loaded by a spring 7 and is provided with an annular recess to form a passageway 10 between the piston and cylinder. The piston may also be provided with a portion 6 to close the port 2. The inlet pressure acts on the piston face 11 to open the valve to allow flow to the outlet 2 and when the pressure reaches a predetermined value, the end 12 of the passageway 10 allows flow to the relief port 4. With a further increase in pressure, the piston moves to reduce the length of the throttle passage 10. The passage 10 may be formed by a groove in the cylinder or by axial grooves in the piston or cylinder.
