Apparatus for playing a board game simulating a field ball game, for example cricket, comprises a board marked to represent the playing field, with the positions of the players shown thereon, and a system of tracks marked round the periphery of the board, each track being marked off into subdivisions. The apparatus further comprises two distinguishable sets of playing pieces for movement at the players' will between the playing positions marked on the board, and other playing pieces representing balls for movement over the tracks, this latter movement being determined by throwing dice. Three dice are used in playing the game, two being provided with pips in the conventional manner, but one being coloured differently from the other to distinguish the two as bowler's die and the batsman's die for example, and the third is devoid of pips but has faces of different colours, and is used to decide the further course of the game when the two numbered dice register the same numbers. The various subdivisions of the tracks on the playing board each bear representations of a score, an instruction relating to the game, or an instruction to consult chance cards. The score is preferably entered on a sheet analogous to that used in playing the game simulated.
