Abstract
1,005,015. Sewing machines; -pile fabrics. W. ULLRICH. Aug. 8, 1962, No. 30299/62. Headings D1G and D1K. In chain stitching for the provision of simulated hair or thread tufts, the unlooped upper thread between successive stitches is alternately drawn into a bight and drawn tight. The bight may be either cut or uncut. As shown, a hooked needle 3 ascends through work 1 and through a gap in a rotary disc 4, when thread 2 is laid in the needle hook by a member 6. The needle then descends through the work and the previously-formed loop. The gaps in disc 4 are so proportioned by ribs 5 that the upper thread is alternately drawn into a bight, which is cut by a stationary knife 7, and drawn tight.
