Abstract

1,003,359. Supporting excavators &c. for towing purposes. BERGMAN BORR A.B. Oct. 14, 1963 [May 20, 1963], No. 40410/63. Heading B7D. A carriage 17 for facilitating the towing of excavators &c. having endless-tracks, comprises one or more wheeled axles 20, two arms 18 extending at right angles from the axle 20 for engagement by means of hooks 19 with a stub-shaft 15 secured to the excavator frame, and a transverse beam 21 for supporting the excavator from below. A second stub-shaft 16 on the excavator carries a bracket 26 for attachment of a draw-bar 25 extending from a towing vehicle 24. In the case of the excavator shown, which includes a bucket 11 carried by arms 7 displaceable by hydraulic rams 8, the bucket 11 may be placed on the ground and the rams 8 utilized to raise one end of the excavator for insertion of the carriage 17. The bucket 11 may then be placed on the towing vehicle to raise the other end of the excavator, and may be locked in position during transmit by a rod 27 or hydraulic means extending between brackets 13, 14.
