Abstract

1,000,113. Tyre with coaxcial bead wires. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. July 4, 1962 [July 13, 1961], No. 25339/61. Heading B7C. A pneumatic tyre comprises two coaxial bead wires in each bead region, one bead wire 2 nesting radially within the other 3, and a reinforcing ply 4 secured between the opposed nesting faces 5 and 7. The radially inner wire 2 may be solid steel, as shown, or like the wire 3 of rubberized, wire construction. The ply is of rubberized steel wire cord material, the cords crossing the tread at right angles. The faces 5, 7 are complementary frusto-conical surfaces extending at about 15 degrees to the tyre axis. The tyre incorporates a chafer reinforcement 8 of steel cord material. This construction is intended to withstand high rim temperatures on braking aircraft. Specification 922,395 is referred to.
