Abstract

The method involves emitting a set of radio waves at a frequency that is adapted to be detected by goniometers. The mobile unit i.e. military aircraft is allowed to move along a trajectory (TRAJ). A temporal window (T) is defined during which the trajectory of the mobile unit is approximated by a segment (SEG) traversed at a constant speed, where each goniometer provides a set of readings in the temporal window. A position (p-t) of the mobile unit is estimated at a given moment according to the set of readings obtained for a specific period.
