Abstract

The femoral prosthesis assembly comprises a femoral shank (1) designed to receive a series of necks (2) connected to a spherical head. Each neck consists of a conical base (2a) which fits into a matching recess in the proximal end of the shank, and has an adjustable positioning element (2b) on its end which can be set at different angles. The opposite end of the neck has a truncated conical tip (2c) which engages with a socket in the spherical head. ADVANTAGE - Wider range of fittings.

On rappelle, d'une manière parfaitement connu pour un homme du métier, qu'une prothèse de hanche présente une tige fémorale destinée à être impactée dans le canal médullaire du fémur. La partie supérieure de la tige est prolongée angulairement par une partie faisant office de col, conformée pour recevoir directement, ou d'une manière rapportée, une tête sphérique fémorale apte à coopérer avec la cavité cotyloïde de l'os illiaque.
