Abstract
The ambient temp. thermostat is combined with a time switch and is used for the automatic control of a heating system. The time switch is powered from a battery which is recharged from the power in the two wire connecting circuit. A thermostat and time switch assembly has two terminals (2, 8) through which a mains supply is connected via a load resistor (1). Night (4) and day (3) thermostat contacts provide a series connection with a contact (4) operated by a time switch motor (6). The motor is powered from a battery (7) recharged via a diode (16) and resistor (15) when the thermostat contacts are open. The charge current is maintained constant by a circuit (9) containing a transistor (10) biased from a Zener diode (13) circuit. This circuit compensates for changes in the load resistance.
