Abstract

Injection syringe partic. for the artificial insemination of domestic and farm animals, esp. sheep. The syring is of the type comprising a hollow cylindrical body from which substance to be injected is driven by a hand-operated piston. The body of the syringe is protected from contact with the animal by a removable, pref. disposable, outer sleeve of thin, flexible material. The sleeve is retained on the body by frictional engagement of projections around the exterior of the body at the gripped end. The projections pref. follow a helical path around the body and are of triangular section in diametral plane. Elimination of the previous clamping ring improves visibility for injection. It also facilitates fitting and removing the sleeve. There is no clamping ring which might be lost at the point of injection.
