Abstract
The sub-calibre projectile is fired with a calibrated shoe, from which it then separates. It has an armour-piercing core (1) fixed to a base (4) and both extending inside the shoe (2), which rotates them both. Pins of fusible material secure base and shoe together, in the axial direction, and are melted by a fuse after firing. The pins can be housed in a passage in the base filled with fuse material, and can protrude into recesses in the shoe. The passage can lead to a point oppiste an opening in the shoe, and which in turn leads to a space into which the combustion gases of the firing charge penetrate.
