Abstract

Selon l'invention, a. The invention relates to a process for electrodeposition with a coating composition on a negatively charged support, immersed in a coating bath containing an aqueous dispersion of said coating composition, said bath having a cathode zone containing said support and an anode zone. containing a charged anode, said support and said anode constituting electrodes of opposite charges, the charged electrodes being maintained in electrical contact with each other by means of said bath, said bath comprising a cationic film-forming polymer, an acidic ionizing agent and a crosslinking agent. According to the invention, a. Phosphoric acid is used as an acid ionizing agent; b. As cationic film-forming polymer is used a graft copolymer having a backbone containing secondary and / or primary amine functions, said graft copolymer being stabilized in the aqueous dispersion with a phosphate of amine functions, said backbone being polymerized by grafting with a hydrophobic copolymer derived from epoxy ester, said hydrophobic copolymer having a sufficiently high concentration in the graft copolymer that the coating deposited on the support has a solids content of at least about 83% and the concentration of phosphoric acid in the coating composition deposited does not not exceed about 17.5% of the concentration of phosphoric acid in the bath; and c. As crosslinking agent is used a composition which is not reactive in the bath, but reactive with respect to said film-forming polymer at high temperatures.
