Abstract

The safety mechanism is for use on a circuit-breaker. The mechanism comprises a slideable angle iron (B) which can follow the switch-lever (1) to be locked in place by a padlock. The movement of the slide (8) is controlled by a recoil sprung (17) stud (18) which is displaced by the moving contacts (3). The slide (8) include a bracket (4) which locks the lever (1) in the 'off' position, and moves relative to a fixed angle iron (5, 6). As the slide (8) moves into the locking position two holes (7) are revealed. The holes (7) may accept a padlock which locks the slide (8). The other flange (9) of the slide has a longitudinal key-hole slot (13, 14) of which the bulb (13) locates an enlarged head (18) of the stud. Unless the stud is lifted by the contact and the circuit is broken, the head (18) prevents movement of the slide (8).
