Abstract

The regenerative brake for a road vehicle with an oleopneumatic reservoir and hydraulic piston motors can be varied to act as pumps. Two motors are fed in parallel by the reservoir and drive wheels and are separated by a clutch. A brake pedal is joined to the piston of the master cylinder and another piston. Electronic equipment is employed so that braking energy can be used to drive the motors and thus increase the pressure in the reservoir. When the braking has finished, the energy may be used again to drive the motors and so help drive the vehicle.
