Abstract

The turbine rotor consists of upper and lower discs joined together by rods, and aerofil blades pivoting on vertical shafts mounted between the discs. A lever mounted below each blade carries a roller which runs in a circular groove eccentric to the rotor. As the rotor rotates, the angle of inclination of the blades, with respect to the rotor radius, is changed to give maximum aero-dynamic efficiency. The rotor is shielded on one side by a curved housing so that the blades moving against the direction of the wind are not exposed to it. The rotor is mounted on a platform which is aligned to the wind by a vane.
