Abstract

An oil fired sectional central heating boiler consists of horizontal sections stacked on one another vertically, to give improved efficiency. Each section (19) is rectangular and dish shaped on both its upper and lower faces, and stopped so that a heat exchange chamber (10) is formed with an adjacent section, and in a stack, heating chambers alternate with heat exchange chambers. Various shapes for this basic design are shown, and the collector tubes run vertically through the stack. The external faces of the heat exchangers, i.e. the sunken faces, carry a set of fins, or protuberances. The heat exchange chambers extend perpendicularly to a main supply chamber.
