Abstract

A solution of formaldehyde and/or urea-formaldehyde precondensate (methylol-containing compounds) is gradually added, over a time of 15-40 minutes, to an initially introduced urea solution in the weakly acidic range. The reaction solution is adjusted to a pH of 6.8-8 by addition of alkali, and the insoluble condensates already formed in the acidic range are then separated off from the approximately neutral suspension. In this way, readily filterable condensation products having a composition desired for fertilisers are obtained.
