Abstract

Inside an outer tube (12) is a concentric inner tube (18) closed at the supply end so as to form a baffle around which the gases pass to emerge through an outer row of holes (24) which slope outwards to the open end of the outer tube. These holes form the main flame, but there is a further set of tangential holes through the side of the inner baffle tube which give an auxiliary flame with a swirling action, in the centre of the main flame. A further variation shows a convergent delivery end. Another variation of the first design has a row of outer holes which are parallel to the outer tube, instead of sloping, these forming the main flame.
