Abstract
The valve has a tapered body which is adjustable axially in an opening in the fluid passage. The valve body is so asymmetrically shaped on its side facing the valve seat of the opening that the medium impinging upon the body exercises a force upon the body perpendicular to its axis of displacement which is greater than the perpendicular forces of vibration, and thus stabilises the position of the body in the fluid stream. The asymmetry is produced by a projection which is eccentric to the axis of displacement and whose ratio of eccentricity to the diameter of the opening lies between R = D/6 and R = D/4.
