Abstract

The separating membrane for fuel cell is placed between a first electrode in contact on its face opposite the membrane with a solutioncontining the electrolyte and the fuel, and a second electrode also in contact on its face opposite the membrane with a solution containing the electrolyte and the fuel. The membrane is made of a material which is electronically conductive and electrochemically inert simultaneously to the solutions, typically nickle or stainless steel. The porosity index is pref. between 20 and 60%, a mean pore dia, from 0. 3 to 10 mu and a thickness from 40 to 400 mu.
