Abstract

Complex mineral fertilisers are prepd. by treating phosphoric acid with gaseous NH3 to give a phosphate pulp, treating this with NH4NO3 or (NH4)2SO4 to give a phosphate-nitrate pulp into which KCl is introduced and the pulp dried in a sieve dryer or pulverisation dryer, the contact time of the KCl with the phosphate nitrate pulp being 1-90 secs. The short contact time eradicates the risk of formation of KNO3 and thickening of the pulp while introducing KCl, and by consequence improves the physico-mechanic and physico-chemical properties of the product and equilibrates their content of nutrient elements.
