Abstract
A powdered metal partic. Al, Ti, Zr, Ni, Cr or Cu or ally or stainless steel is coated onto a metallic substrate, partic. Fe, carbon steel or alloy steel which has previously been coated with an aqs. adhesive soln. contng. Na or K polymetaphosphate, and the coating and substrate are heat dried, compressed and annealed at pref. 400-1100 degrees C. for 5 hours in an inert atmosphere. The adhesive comprises Na or K polymetaphosphate having a degree of polymerisation of 103-104 in an amount of 0.01-2.0 g./litre. The powdered metal may contain additives selected from 4C paraffins, 5C olefins, 8C monoaliphatic alcohols, 4C monocarboxylic acids or their equivalent polar aliphatic cpds.
