A process for converting a hydrocarbon feedstock, in the presence of hydrogen sulfide, into hydrocarbon products boiling at a lower temperature, which comprises the steps of: (a) reacting said feedstock and hydrogen, in an area of hydrocracking reaction and in contact with a hydrocracking catalyst, and hydrocracking said loading material; (b) contacting the resulting total hydrocracked effluent, containing organic sulfur compounds, with a desulfurization catalyst, and desulfurizing said hydrocracked effluent; and (c) separating the resultant desulfurized effluent to recover said boiling products at a lower temperature, and to provide a vapor phase rich in hydrogen.
