Abstract
Process for obtaining low molecular weight polyolefins by homopolymerization or copolymerization of olefins of the general formula R-CH-CH2- where R is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon residue, preferably a straight or branched alkyl residue, substituted or without replace, with 1 to 10 carbon atoms in solution, at elevated temperatures and pressures of up to 50 atmospheres in the presence of a mixed catalyst consisting of the product of the reaction between a tetravalent titanium compound and a magnesium compound (component A) and an organic alumino compound (component b), the molecular weight being regulated with hydrogen, characterized by the fact that the polymerization is carried out at temperatures of 110 to 180ºC., in the presence of so much hydrogen that the residual gas contains at least 60% by volume of hydrogen, and the transformation product of titanium tetrahalogenides and magnesium alcoholates is used as component A.
