Abstract

The boiler (1) has a dry chamber surrounding a boiler cylindrical furnace (2). The heat exchanger (3) encases the furnace and transfers heat between hot gases produced by the burner (5) at the centre of the furnace and water circulating around the exchanger. It has fins (10) located on the side of the furnace which are perpendicular to the furnace axis. Each fin extends on a part of the periphery of the furnace. Fins located in the same plane are staggered relative to those located in a neighbouring axial plane. The distance separating two neighbouring planes containing the fins decreases in the direction of gas flow. The height of the fins is constant along the length of the furnace.
