Abstract

Sealed composting tunnel for obtaining compost from any type of organic material A fan 5 and an extractor 6 are fitted to a chamber 1 of appropriate capacity equipped with leaktight end doors 2 to circulate atmospheric air through the chamber 1 passing through the mass of organic material which is to be composted, from an upper pipe 7 to a lower main 8 communicating with chamber 1 through corresponding sets of orifices. In parallel the leachates generated by the organic material are collected in main 8 and while air exits to the exterior through the biofilter 10, the said leachates reach a tank 11 equipped with a pump 12 for recycling them to spray nozzles 14 located in the roof of the chamber 1. The fan 5, the extractor 6 and the pump 12 are driven by a computerized control system 14 which acts on the basis of information received by one or more sensors 3 to control the temperature, oxygen level and moisture in the chamber 1.
