Abstract

Improved procedure for producing beta manganese dioxide and for producing cathodes using said manganese dioxide. The procedure involves heating gamma manganese dioxide to a temperature of at least 450 degrees C for up to one hour with a view to converting most of the gamma manganese dioxide into the beta crystalline phase without forming harmful quantities of lower oxides.
