Description

The invention relates to a pack for cigarettes, with a box part which is delimited at least by a front wall, a rear wall, side walls and a bottom wall, and wherein in the box part at least one, preferably cuboid, cigarette group encased in an inner blank is arranged as a cigarette block, and the Pack has predetermined dimensions in terms of width, depth and height and at least one dimension of the at least one cigarette group is smaller than a corresponding dimension of the interior of the box part, so that the cigarette group does not fill the interior of the box part with respect to at least one dimension, and wherein a collar is arranged in the box part, the front wall of which at least partially abuts the front wall of the box part, and the side walls of the collar which are arranged on the side of the front wall of the collar lie on corresponding side walls of the box part, and wherein the collar serves to compensate for at least one different dimension of the cigarette block and the interior of the box part, according to the preamble of claim 1.

In practice it can happen for various reasons that the pack sizes or the dimensions of packs for cigarettes are specified, for example for legal, tax or technical reasons. In order to ensure the cost-effective production of packs, it is desirable that the packs can be filled with different contents at constant (external) dimensions in order to be able to react flexibly to corresponding requirements in different markets without costly retrofitting of the packaging machines would be required. Of particular interest is a smaller number of cigarettes or to accommodate cigarette blocks with smaller dimensions in conventional packs. Solutions to this problem are in US 5,480,025 , EP 0 443 365 A1 , GB 2 276 611 A. and EP 0 801 011 A1 shown.

Against this background, the invention is based on the object of further developing packs for cigarettes, in particular with a view to accommodating different pack contents in preferably standardized packs as advantageously as possible, and with a view to being as simple as possible to manufacture on conventional packaging machines.

A package for solving this problem has the features of claim 1. In this way, the interior of the box part can be reduced with regard to one or more dimensions of the cigarette block, in particular with regard to a smaller width or depth of the cigarette block. Since only the adjustment of the collar is required to adapt to the or each smaller dimension, the effort to convert the packaging machines is limited. In addition, no additional cuts or other aids are required to securely position the cigarette group in the box part. Because the holding means is formed by folding tabs which are arranged in the region of the side walls of the collar and are folded by one fold line in each case in such a way that they support the connecting section of the collar on the underside, the position of the connecting section is secured.

If reference is made to a wall of the collar and a corresponding wall of the box part in the context of the application, this means the walls of the collar and of the box part, which are each arranged on the same side of the pack, that is to say the front wall of the collar and front wall of the Box part or side wall of the collar and side wall of the box part on the same side of the pack.

According to a variant of the invention, it can be provided that at least two sections of the wall of the collar are arranged on the corresponding wall of the box part.

Alternatively or additionally, it can be provided that at least two sections of the wall of the collar are arranged at a distance from the corresponding wall of the box part.

Another special feature can be that an underside of the wall of the collar extends into the area of the bottom wall of the box part and supports the collar there by abutting the bottom wall.

It is preferably provided that the fold lines are arranged parallel to a pack edge of the pack in the transition between the corresponding wall of the box part and a bottom wall of the box part.

An advantageous detail can be that the wall of the collar is separated from adjacent walls of the collar below a fold line that is closest to an upper side of the collar to a lower side of the collar by a separating cut.

Furthermore, it can be provided that inner side flaps of the side walls of the box part have corresponding folding flaps, the position of which corresponds to the position of the folding flaps in the side walls such that they can be folded together with the folding flaps in the side walls, the regions of the folding flaps in the inner Side flaps are covered by the outer side flaps of the side walls of the box part.

In principle, it should be ensured in all variants that the or each cigarette group has a greater width than depth in order to ensure proper folding of the inner cut in the area of the top of the cigarette group.

The following exemplary embodiments each relate to a pack 10 of the hinge-lid pack type for cigarettes. It is explicitly pointed out that the invention can relate to other types of packs for cigarettes.

The packs 10 shown in the figures consist of a box part 11 and a cover 13 pivotally mounted in the region of a rear wall 12 of the box part 11. The box part 11 further consists of a (lower) bottom wall 14 and a (upright) front wall 15, which is the rear wall 12 is opposite. Side walls 16, 17 connect rear wall 12 and front wall 15 to one another and are formed from overlapping inner and outer side tabs 18, 19. The cover 13 also consists of the front wall 20, rear wall 21, end wall 30 and side walls 22, 23. The side walls 22, 23 of the cover 13 are also formed by overlapping inner and outer side tabs 24, 25.

Another component of the packs 10 is a collar 26 in a different configuration. The basic components of the collar 26 are, however, always a front wall 27 which bears against the front wall 15 of the box part 11 and, if appropriate, is connected thereto by adhesive bonding. The collar further includes 26 side walls 28 which extend along side walls 16, 17 of the box part 11. An upper region of the collar 26 protruding from the box part 11 is enclosed by the cover 13 in the closed position of the pack 10.

The cuboid-shaped pack 10 made from thin cardboard is particularly suitable for holding cigarettes or other rod-shaped objects. The cigarettes are formed as a cigarette group and are surrounded by an inner cut, for example made of tin foil. The result is a cigarette block 29. In the exemplary embodiments shown, the cigarette group or cigarette block 29 is essentially cuboid in shape, with a rectangular cross section.

There is a special feature with regard to the dimensions of the cigarette block 29. The dimensions (width, height, depth) do not at least partially correspond to the corresponding dimensions of the interior of the box part 11 or the pack 10, so that a cavity would arise without countermeasures, or the cigarette block 29 would not be held securely or properly in the box part 11. Accordingly, at least one dimension of the cigarette block 29 is smaller than a corresponding dimension of the interior of the box part 11 or the pack 10.

If it is assumed in the context of this application that the dimensions (of the cigarette block 29 on the one hand and the interior of the box part 11 or the pack 10 on the other) are different, this does not relate to the usual deviations that arise in the course of dimensions and Manufacturing tolerances or for the purpose of simple removal of the cigarettes are usually present, but rather deviations that go beyond this measure.

Rather, the invention relates to deviations in the dimensions that result from the fact that one or more cigarette blocks 29 are accommodated within the pack 10, which due to the number and / or dimensions of the cigarettes have a smaller pack content than is customary with packs 10 of this type, so that there are significant differences in the dimensions which must be compensated for in a suitable manner in order to securely accommodate the cigarette block 29 in the pack 10 despite the deviating dimensions.

In the first embodiment according to 1 to 4 To reduce the depth of the box part 11, the front wall 27 of the collar 26 is folded along two folding lines 31, 32. The fold lines 31, 32 extend transversely to an imaginary longitudinal axis 33 of the collar 26.

The fold lines 31, 32 divide the front wall 27 into three sections, namely an upper section 34, a middle connecting section 35 and a lower section 36. The three sections are folded around the fold lines 31, 32 such that the section 34 is on the inside on the front wall 15 of the box part 11 rests, whereas the section 36 is arranged parallel to the section 34 but at a distance from the front wall 15 of the box part 11, and the distance is given by the corresponding dimension of the connecting section 35. The front wall 27 of the collar 26 is accordingly folded in a Z shape around the fold lines 31, 32. The connecting section 35 is directed transversely to the two sections 34, 36. The fold lines 31, 32 are preferably formed as perforation lines.

It goes without saying that the collar 26 can of course also have more than two fold lines 31, 32, so that the front wall 27 of the collar 26 is folded differently. For example, it is conceivable that a plurality of sections 34, each spaced apart from one another, bear against the inside of the front wall 15 of the box part 11 and / or that a plurality of sections 36, each spaced apart from one another, are arranged at a distance from the front wall 15 of the box part 11.

In order to be able to fold the front wall 27 of the collar 26 in the manner shown, separating cuts 37 are also provided between the front wall 27 and the two side walls 28. The separating cuts 37 extend along the fold line 38 between the front wall 27 and the two side walls 28 in each case from the first fold line 31 to the underside 39 of the collar 26. In the region of an upper side 40 of the collar 26, a customary recess 41 is formed in order to make cigarettes easier the package 10 can be removed. So-called cover brakes 42 are arranged on both sides of the recess 41.

A further special feature relates to measures for securing the Z-fold of the front wall 27 of the collar 26. For this purpose, a holding means 43 can be arranged in the area of one or both side walls 28 of the collar 26. As in Fig. 5 is shown, the holding means 43 is a bead formed by stamping and embossing is arranged on the inside on the side wall 28 of the collar 26 and protrudes toward the interior of the box part 11. The holding means 43 supports the connecting section 35 on the underside with a free edge 44.

An alternative solution is in 3 and 4 shown. The right half of the collar 26 shows the variant described above with the holding means 43, whereas the left half of the collar 26 shows a variant in which the fold lines 31, 32 also extend into the region of the side walls 28. This solution has the advantage that the collar 26 can be folded in a Z-shape and placed on the contents of the package. When the side walls 28 of the collar 26 are subsequently placed against the package contents, the side walls 28 of the collar 26 "unfold" as in FIG Fig. 3 shown.

It goes without saying that 43 different variants are conceivable with regard to the construction of the holding means. Other organs can also be used instead of the bead described above. It is also conceivable that the holding means 43 engage on other walls of the collar 26 or are arranged on other walls of the box part 11.

The cigarette block 49 is preferably additionally secured in its position in the box part 11, for example by gluing to the rear wall 12 of the box part 11 or by gluing to the side walls 28 of the box part 11 or the collar 26 or by gluing to the section 36 of the collar 26.

A peculiarity of the in 6 and 7 The second exemplary embodiment shown is that the underside 39 of the collar 26 extends to the bottom wall 14 of the box part 11. In this way, the collar 26 can be supported on the bottom wall 14. Additional holding means 43 can be dispensed with, since this ensures that the Z-shaped fold of the collar 26 is retained.

Otherwise, the second exemplary embodiment corresponds to FIG 6 and 7 according to the first embodiment 1 to 4 .

A special feature of the third exemplary embodiment according to 8 to 13 consists in a special construction of the holding means 43. On the one hand, a folding tab 45 is provided in each of the side walls 28 of the collar 26. This is formed by a U-shaped stamping in the material of the side walls 28. On the other hand, the Connecting section 35 has a nose 46 on both sides, which protrudes beyond the fold line 38 between the side walls 28 and the front wall 27.

When the front wall 27 is Z-folded, the nose 46 presses the folding tab 45 outward, so that it engages in a recess 47 in the region of the side wall 16 of the box part 11. In the present case, the recess 47 is formed in the inner side tab 19.

Otherwise, the third embodiment corresponds to 8 to 13 according to the first embodiment 1 to 4 .

A special feature of the fourth exemplary embodiment according to 14 to 20 also consists in a special construction of the holding means 43.

The holding means 43 are formed by folding tabs 48 which are formed in the side walls 28 of the collar 26.

The folding flaps 48 are delimited on the one hand by the separating cut 37, and on the other hand by a further separating cut 49, which extends in each case in the extension of the fold line 31 into the side walls 28 of the collar 26, and also a fold line 50 which extends from the free side end of the Separating cut 49 extends parallel to the separating cut 49 in the direction of the underside 39 of the collar 26. Correspondingly, the folding tabs 48 are each delimited by the separating cuts 37, 49 and the folding line 50 and are rectangular in accordance with the course of the separating cuts 37, 49 and the folding line 50. It goes without saying that with a different course of the separating cuts 37, 49 and / or the folding line 50, a different shape of the folding tab 48 is also conceivable.

The folding tabs 48 are each pivoted about the folding line 50 toward the inside of the box part 11 or towards the section 36 of the collar, so that a free edge of the folding tab 48, which is formed by the separating cut 49, lies linearly on the underside of the connecting section 35 and supports it. In this way, as in the other exemplary embodiments, the Z-fold of the collar 26 can be prevented from being lost due to the restoring forces of the material of the collar 26.

The folding of the folding tab 48 can preferably take place after the collar 26 has been placed on the cigarette block 29, for example by means of folding members which act laterally against the Foldable flaps 48 are moved to fold over against or in the direction of section 36, as schematically in FIG Fig. 20 shown.

This folding step can also be carried out if the cigarette block 29 with the collar 26 already in place is already in a partially folded blank 51 for the pack 10, for example in a pocket of a folding turret (not shown).

In an intermediate step according to Fig. 20 the inner side tabs 19 of the side walls 16, 17 of the box part 11 are already folded or erected against the contents of the pack. In order to be able to fold the flaps 48 of the collar 26 in this intermediate folding position, corresponding folding flaps 52 are formed in the inner side flaps 19 of the side walls 16, 17 by separating cuts 53 and a folding line 54 which are folded over together with the folding flaps 48. The corresponding recess in the inner side tab 19 is later covered by the outer side tab 18 of the side walls 16, 17. Both the folding tabs 48 and the folding tabs 52 rest with an upper edge on the underside of the connecting section 35 and support it.

The blank 51 is otherwise constructed like a custom blank for a hinge-lid pack 10. In addition to the walls already described shows Fig. 19 nor the position of folding tabs 55, 56, 57 which, in the folded pack 10, rest against the inside of the bottom wall 14 of the box part 11 or the front wall 20 or end wall 30 of the cover 13.

It goes without saying that the folding flaps 52 in the side flaps 18 can also be dispensed with if the folding flaps 48 are folded over before the cigarette block 29 and collar 26 are brought together with the blank 51, or if the folding flaps 49 take place before the inner ones Side tabs 18 are erected. Furthermore, it is also conceivable to provide corresponding recesses in the inner side tabs 18 at the location of the folding tabs 52.

As in the second exemplary embodiment, the length of the collar 26 or of the lower section 36 can be dimensioned such that the underside 39 of the collar 26 rests on the bottom wall 14.

Otherwise, the fourth embodiment corresponds to 14 to 17 according to the first embodiment 1 to 4 .

A variant of the fourth embodiment is shown in 21 and 22 shown. This variant differs from the fourth exemplary embodiment in that one of the two folding flaps 48, namely the right folding flap 48 in the illustration according to FIG Fig. 21 at least in sections has a greater width than the other folding tab 48.

In an upper section, which in this case is at the level of section 35, the right folding tab 48 has the same width as the left folding tab 48. Below this, the separating cut 37 is designed such that the right folding tab 48 has a greater width than in the section lying above it. The width of the right folding tab 48 in the lower section is also greater than the width of the left folding tab 48.

Alternatively, it is of course also conceivable that the right folding tab 48 overall (continuously or over the entire height) has a greater width than the left folding tab 48.

The different width of the folding tab 48 is advantageous when folding the folding tab 48. After the side walls 28 of the collar 26 have been folded against the corresponding side walls of the cigarette block 29, the folding flap 48 with the greater width protrudes further upward above the cigarette block 29 than the other folding flap 48 and can thereby be gripped separately by folding members, for example a folding switch and be folded over.

In this variant too, the folding tabs 48 can be folded together with the folding tabs 51 in the side tabs 19.

Other variants according to 23 and 24 on the one hand and 25 and 26 on the other hand, show the collar 26 accordingly 21 and 22 in a variant for packs 10 with round edges on the one hand and octagonal edges on the other. The collars 26 are formed with corresponding fold lines 58 in the transition from the front wall 27 to the side walls 28 and adapted to the contour of the corresponding packaging edges of the packaging 10. Furthermore, according to the variant 25 and 26 the separating cut 37 is contoured in the transition to the separating cut 49 in accordance with the octagonal edges of the pack 10.

All of the exemplary embodiments shown have in common that the cigarette block 29 only has one dimension from the corresponding dimensions of the interior of the box part 11 deviates, namely either in width or depth. With regard to the height of the cigarette block 29, there are no special features in any of the cases.

However, it can of course be the case that the dimensions of the cigarette block 29 deviate in more than one dimension or direction from the corresponding dimensions of the interior of the box part 11. If necessary, several of the individual measures can be combined to compensate for the different dimensions.

Furthermore, care should be taken that the cigarette blocks 29 should have a width greater than depth, if possible, in order to be able to properly fold the inner blank in the area of the upper side.

The contents of the pack can basically be cigarettes with normal dimensions, but also cigarettes with a smaller diameter than normal cigarettes, namely so-called slim or superslim cigarettes.

Claims (8)

1. 4. The pack as claimed in claim 1 or at least one of the other claims, characterized in that a bottom side (39) of the wall (27) of the collar (26) extends into the region of the base wall (14) of the box part (11) and, there, supports the collar (26) by abutment against the base wall (14).

The pack as claimed in claim 1 or at least one of the other claims, characterized in that the fold lines (31, 32) are arranged so as to be oriented parallel to a pack edge of the pack (10) at the transition between the corresponding wall (15) of the box part (11) and a base wall (14) of the box part (11).
6. The pack as claimed in claim 1 or at least one of the other claims, characterized in that the wall (27) of the collar (26) is, below a fold line (31) which is closest to a top side (40) of the collar (26), separated from adjacent walls (28) of the collar (26) as far as a bottom side (39) of the collar (26) by a severing cut (37).

The pack as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the folding tabs (48) in the two side walls (28) of the collar (26) at least partially have a different width such that, after the folding of the folding tabs (48) against corresponding side walls of the cigarette group (29), one folding tab (48) at least partially projects further in relation to the front side of the cigarette group (29) than the other folding tab (48).

The pack as claimed in claim 1 or at least one of the other claims, characterized in that inner side tabs (19) of the side walls (16, 17) of the box part (12) have corresponding folding tabs (52), the position of which corresponds to the position of the folding tabs (48) in the side walls (28) such that the former folding tabs are folded together with the folding tabs (48) in the side walls (28), wherein the regions of the folding tabs (52) in the inner side tabs (19) are covered by the outer side tabs (19) of the side walls (16, 17) of the box part (12).
