Abstract

Clothes peg that on a perfected way prevents the production of marks on garments clothing hung through the same and which can also be used as a conventional clip or clothespin even to hang a hanger bearing a dress. The clothes peg comprising two arms (2) held together by a central spring (40), a hook (30) extending as an extension of a lower end of one of the arms such that the free end (3.1.1) of said hook (30) extends outwards from the main peg body (20).

Description

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates to a clothes peg that prevents causing stains on the clothes hung by them and that can be used as a standard clothes peg or even to hang a clothes hanger from a garment.
The object of the invention is a clothes peg comprising a hook configured as an extension of one of its ends, such that the receiving opening of said hook extends outwards from the peg.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A standard clothes peg consists of a main body that consists in turn of two elements that are pressed in order to open it and close again by the action of a spring that keeps said elements together and in a closed position.
Such pegs have one or several openings under the spring in order to house the clothes line or wire together with the garment they hold.
This type of peg keeps the clothing trapped between its ends by exerting permanent pressure on part of the garment, causing the appearance of undesirable marks on the clothing, this problem being worse when such pegs are used on delicate garments.
In order to solve the problem of these marks that appear on garments, hooks have been provided to hang the garments, which hooks are integral to the standard pegs described above, such that the appearance of marks or creases is avoided since the garment is hung from the hook, thus avoiding direct contact of said garment with the lower ends of the peg on which pressure is exerted when the peg is in use.
One example to illustrate this type of pegs configured with a hook for hanging clothes is that of utility model U9403067.
In this case, the peg described relates to a standard peg from which a clothes hook emerges on one of its ends, in particular from its top end.
Said configuration of the hook as an extension of its top edge makes the peg rotate 180° with respect to the clothes line or wire that holds said peg when such hook is in use, in order for the opening of said hook to adopt an upward-facing position so that it can work correctly.
The drawback of this type of solution consists in the difficulty of keeping the peg in position when it is hanging from a clothes line or wire in the event that the garment is held by the hook configured on one of the ends of said peg, since the weight of the peg exerts a pressure on the peg that tends to open it, causing it to detach from the clothes line or wire and therefore causing the garment to fall to the ground, thus limiting its use to light garments.

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

In view of the above, this invention relates to a clothes peg that comprises:

a main body consisting of two arms that are held together by a central spring, wherein the arms have upper ends and lower ends where a first contact area of said arms is established at the top ends in an open position of the peg and a second contact area of said arms at their lower ends in a closed position of the peg,
a hook that extends as an extension of one of said ends,

The type of peg of the invention prevents the unintended opening of the peg when it is placed on the clothes line or wire and a garment is hung from the hook that extends as an extension of a lower end of the peg, exerting a pressure that tends to open the peg.
In this case the spring that joins the two arms forming the main body of the peg at a central part thereof act as a retaining element, preventing the unwanted opening of the peg.
On the other hand, the fact that the opening of the hook is arranged facing outwards from the main body of the peg makes it much easier to use, for example, with respect to a peg in which the hook were facing inwards towards the main body of the peg, since this prevents the hook from interfering with the opening of the hook and the clothes line or wire, which would make it more difficult to hang the clothes on such clothes line or wire.
Additionally, the hook formed by the peg can have a pinching that enhances the holding of clothing, thus preventing their accidental fall in the event, for example, of a gust of wind or the garment being brushed against by the peg user themselves, which could cause the garment to fall accidentally to the ground.
On the other hand, the free end of the hook that is configured outwards from the main body of the peg can have a divergent configuration that facilitates introducing part clothes the garment inside said hook.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

As shown in Figure 1, the clothes peg (1) of the invention comprises:

a main body (20) consisting in turn of two arms (2) held together by a central spring (40), wherein said arms (2) have upper ends (2.1.1) and lower ends (2.1.2) where there is a first contact area of said arms (2) on their upper ends (2.1.1) in an open position of the peg (1) when pressing upon said upper ends (2.1.1.) and a second contact area of said arms (2) on the lower ends (2.1.2) when the peg is closed,
a hook (30) that extends as an extension of one of said ends, in particular as an extension of one of said lower ends (2.1.2) corresponding to one of the arms (2) of the peg (1), the function of which is to hold a garment (not shown) in order to avoid the appearance of marks on said garment, for example through loops, typically in fabric, configured on part of the garment and usually provided to place the garment on a standard clothes hanger.

The configuration of this hook (30) is established so that the free end (3.1.1) of said hook (30) extends outwards from the main body (20) forming the peg (1).
On the other hand said hook (30) has three differentiated areas, a first upper area (3.1) to receive the garment, a second central area (3.2) through which the garment passes and a third lower area (3.3) that holds the garment.
In particular, the first upper area (3.1) that receives the garment has a divergent configuration that makes it easy to introduce the garment (or part of it) through said first upper receiving area (3.1).
This divergent area is configured by the opening of the hook (30) defined by the free end (3.1.1) of the hook (30) and the end (3.1.2) that is integral to the lower end (2.1.2) of one of the arms (2) of the peg (1) and which acts as a connecting element between said hook (30) and said arm (2).
This free end (3.1.1) has an outward facing lip that configures the divergence. On the other hand this free end (3.1.1) can be somewhat flexible in order to facilitate introducing the garment inside the hook (30).
The second central area (3.2) for passage of the garment advantageously has a pinching that facilitates retaining the garment in the third lower area (3.3) for holding the garment, such that hinders the garment from losing its position accidentally with respect to the hook, for example in the event of a gust of wind or brushing against the garment.
Finally, the third lower area (3.3) for holding the garment configures a housing that allows maintaining the garment or part of it to the peg (1) via the hook (30).
Additionally, the peg (1) comprises a housing (2.1.3) to receive the clothes line or wire (not shown) onto which the peg (1) is attached, so that the hook (3) for holding the garments remains lower than said clothes line or wire.
The peg (1) described above consists of a main body (20) and the hook (30) for holding clothes can consist of two parts of plastic material connected by the spring (40), in particular, of a first arm (2) and a second arm (2) from which the hook (30) extends forming a single part.
In this case, ribs could be provided to provide more strength to certain areas of the peg that may be subjected to greater stress than the hook area (30), for example by a longitudinal rib (3.4) running along the contour of the hook (30).

Claims

A clothes peg comprising:
- a main body consisting of two arms that are held together by a central spring, wherein the arms have upper ends and lower ends where a first contact area of said arms is established at the top ends in an open position of the peg and a second contact area of said arms at their lower ends in a closed position of the peg,

- a hook that extends as an extension of one of said ends,
characterised in that said hook extends as an extension of a lower end of one of the arms such that the free end of said hook extends outwards from the main peg body.
A clothes peg according to claim 1, characterised in that said hook has three differentiated areas, a first upper area to receive the garment, a second central area through which the garment passes and a third lower area that holds the garment.
A clothes peg according to claim 1, characterised in that the first upper area for receiving the garment has a divergent configuration.
A clothes peg according to claim 1, characterised in that the second central area for passage of the garment has a pinching that favours retaining the garment in the third lower area for holding the garment.
