Abstract

One embodiment relates to a method of communicating data between a transmitter and receiver of a communication system. In this method, data is received at the receiver as a series of data units respectively associated with container numbers. The receiver identifies whether the received data includes an uncorrectable data unit. If an uncorrectable data unit is detected, the receiver identifies a container number associated with the data unit. The receiver transmits a request for retransmission of the data unit by sending information indicative of the container number associated with the uncorrectable data unit. Other methods and systems are also disclosed.
