Schiebewandwagen werden seit vielen Jahren im schienengebundenen Güterverkehr verwendet. Dabei sind verschiedenste Feststelleinrichtungen für die Schiebewände bekannt. Beim Öffnungsvorgang einer Schiebewand befindet sich die Schiebewand nach dem Ausstellprozess auf der die Wände führenden Laufschiene und kann in Wagenlängsrichtung etwa bis Wagenmitte verschoben werden, um die Beladeöffnung freizugeben. Steht das Fahrzeug auf einer Gefällestrecke oder ist unsymmetrisch beladen, kann u. U. die Schiebewand selbsttätig losrollen. Beim Schließvorgang wird die Schiebewand in Wagenlängsrichtung bis zur Stirnwand geschoben und dort in der Endstellung abgepuffert. Durch die Abpufferung kann es passieren, dass sich die Schiebewand wieder von der Endstellung entfernt und erneut zurückgeschoben werden muss, um den Schließvorgang beenden zu können. Dieses System ist nach neuesten Erkenntnissen jedoch dadurch manipulierbar, dass das Gestänge zu den Schwenkwellen hin gelöst und somit die Schiebewände geöffnet werden können.
- Blockierung gegen Ausschwenken der Schiebewände, in dem ein Schloss unterhalb der Schiebewand an der Laufschiene gelenkig angebracht und in einer Öse an der Mittelsäule festgelegt ist. Auch dieses System ist nicht von der Laderampe aus bedienbar. Weiterhin kann bei diesem System auch durch die U-förmige Ausführung des Schlosses die Öse, in welche das Schloss festgelegt ist, mit einem Schleifwerkzeug durchtrennt werden, so dass eine Blockierung durch das Schloss nicht mehr vorhanden ist.
