- the strap 150 is preferably attached to one of the edges of the front portion; the buckle 151 being attached to the opposite portion by means of a strap portion 160 fixed on the front portion 136.
- the strap is preferably not very extensible or inextensible.
- a reinforcement yoke in traction 170 is advantageously sewn at the base of the strap portion 160 to improve its tensile strength.
- the role of the stretch band is to improve the comfort and the holding in place of the protection device.
- the strip 17 preferably comprises ventilation holes promoting the evacuation of sweat.
- a padding 16 comparable to the previous mode can also be arranged between the protective element and the flexible body to improve the absorption of shock in the event of a fall.
- the rigid or semi-rigid protective element 14 is preferably attached to the body 13 by bands 160, 161, 162 forming loops passing through lights 167, 168, 169 formed in the protective element.
- the means of connection 161, 162, 168, 169 of the main portion 140 are distinct from those 160, 167 of the secondary portion 141; which allows the portions 140, 141 to be placed in look of the projecting parts to be protected when tightening the clamping element 15.
- the portions adopt protection planes P'1, P'2 which form a certain angle A ' between them depending on the particular morphology and size of each person.
- Absorbed energy measurement tests were carried out to assess the effectiveness of the protective device of the invention comprising the padding of the invention by comparing it to a similar device comprising a padding traditional foam-based.
- the device of the invention measured consisted to a knee protection device with padding gel, thick about 10 mm, such as that described with reference to Figures 6 and 7. Then, the device was measured without padding gel. The test is based on the vertical fall of a mass of 5 kg on the device; which covers a shaped anvil hemispherical (100 mm diameter) connected to an effort sensor. The mass travels a distance of 296 mm before impact resulting in an impact speed of 2.4 m / s.
- the maximum force value undergone by the anvil is recorded after filtration of the parasitic vibrations.
- the value for a device without padding of the invention could be measured compared to approximately 30,000 N. We aknowledge therefore that the padding according to the invention provides a very significant absorption pressure peaks during an impact and therefore provides particularly protection effective.
- FIGS 9 and 10 illustrate another embodiment of the invention.
- the device comprises a flexible body 23 and an internal distribution element 24 rigid or semi-rigid hidden inside the flexible body through a pocket 233 comprising an opening 234.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a fall protection device, more particularly suitable for sports such as roller skating, roller skating in line wheels or skateboard.
In the practice of skating, it is important to benefit from a great freedom of movement so that you can move efficiently, make figures or jumps, or perform braking or acceleration movements. The risk of practice comes from the fact that in case of loss of balance, the skater can fall on hard, non-cushioned surfaces that can cause severe trauma. This is the reason why protective accessories have been designed to limit the risk of injury, especially in the most vulnerable places; that is to say, head, hands, knees and elbows.
The criticisms often raised about these protective accessories proposed concern either their insufficient protection due to a design generally approximate, that is to say their too large bulk which has the effect limit limb mobility, bring too much heat and affect fluidity gestures, and artistic or aesthetic appearance during skating. In terms of protection, we notice that the proposed systems do not hold enough account for what parts to protect in the same area, usually parts protruding, may be multiple and oriented in separate planes each of other. So more often than not, protection is only effective in one plan particular but ineffective or insufficient according to another plan, or protection is effective in all plans but at the cost of too much space.
The systems offered are also generally complicated and time-consuming to put on; this which makes them off-putting to use on all occasions, especially during short uses or without apparent difficulty. However, these are most often during those occasions that accidents happen.
There is therefore a need to improve current systems which aims (1) to make these systems more suited to the morphology of the parts of the body to be protected, (2) to reduce the size to promote mobility and, (3) to facilitate the installation of these systems to make their use essential.
Patent application WO 97/27768 relates to wrist and wrist protection hand comprising a stiffening element extending from the palm of the hand to below the wrist joint. The stiffening element is threaded into a flexible pocket with a flat configuration bandage. The bandage is put on by wrapping around the wrist and is tightened by means of a strap provided with a Velcro type fastening.
Utility model DE-U1-297 17 989 relates to knee protection comprising a flexible shaped part on which is fixed a plastic shell rigid. The flexible part is attached to the leg by two straps each arranged on either side of the knee joint.
The reinforcement is extended by a rigid thumb protection finger.
US patent 5,685,013 relates to a device for protecting the hand, the wrist and forearm. The device that covers a large part of the front arm by stiffening elements connected by straps is very bulky and limits the mobility of the arm and hand.
US Patent 5,255,391 relates to a knee protection sleeve comprising a flexible body, padding means of resilient material and detachable fastening means for fixing the sleeve around the knee comprising two fixing flaps surrounding the leg on each side of the knee.
Patent application CA 2,120,176 relates to knee protection promoting knee flexion by means of two separate portions of shells suitable for rotate around a horizontal axis. However, the hulls are only intended to protect the ball joint and they are not adjustable to tighten to protect protruding parts separate from the knee.
Documents US-A-5,600,849 and DE-U-29,510,932 disclose a device covering the wrist joint.
D'autres documents éloignés concernent d'autres dispositifs de protection comme le US 5,611,080 et US 4,190,902.Other distant documents relate to other protective devices like US 5,611,080 and US 4,190,902.
There is also known a wrist protection system distributed in the trade under the BiomeX Protection brand which includes two portions rigid preforms articulated at the wrist to promote mobility this one. One portion is intended to protect the palm of the hand while the other covers an internal part of the forearm. The rigid portions are simply covered with a thin layer of foam glued to the bottom of the preformed portions. The tightening is done by means of two straps spaced longitudinally. The device is therefore not very conformable and not very adaptable to the size of the hand due to the very rigid structure and the position of the joint which does not allow any catching up in shape or size. Such a device is also still bulky, and laborious implementation.
Thus, the device provides optimal protection of the hand; especially from the palm without affecting the mobility of the joints; namely, the wrist joint and the finger joint. Such a device also has the advantage of being able to be set up easier and faster than the devices of the prior art existing by the fact that the fingers are left free unlike mittens or protective gloves.
Thus, the device according to the invention takes better account of the morphology of the area to be protected by adapting to it during tightening, while limiting space requirement.
The device according to the invention may relate to a device intended to protect the hand. In this case, the raised parts targeted more specifically are the palm and the cutting edge of the hand.
It can also be a device intended to protect the knee. In this case, the affected parts are the patella and head of the fibula.
In all cases, the parts to be protected extend in relief in planes forming an angle from one to the other. The object of the invention is achieved by the design of articulated portions of the rigid protective element which adapt when the device is tightened around the limb to be protected.
entourant partiellement au moins ledit membre ;
The embodiment according to Figures 6 to 10 is not part of the invention.
The
sol.The
The
The clamping of the
As shown in Figure 4, preferably, the
The padding can also be completed with one or more layers of
According to another advantageous characteristic of the invention, the element of
rigid or semi-rigid protection comprises a
main.Generally, the device has a geometry that takes into account
in the shape of the palm of the hand. Thus, the first
peut se faire, de préférence, par une couture 54.Preferably, the rigid or semi-rigid element is not bound over its entire surface to
the flexible body surface for reasons of fixing compatibility and
flexibility of the device. However, the rigid or semi-rigid element is locally linked
on the flexible body. In particular, it is important that the
It can be noted that the flexible body is preferably made of material
breathable such as fabrics, foams, leather, or combinations of these materials.
The use of elastic perforated or wide mesh fabrics is preferred in
non-padded areas in direct contact with the hand to promote hold and
breathability, as on the
de la poche formant la partie 70.Figure 5 shows the device in an open configuration when the
The protective element is, in turn, made of plastic material,
metallic or rubber. Preferably, it is a plastic injected in the form such
than polyurethane, polypropylene or polyamide plastic. Plastic can be
loaded with fibers to increase its resistance. It can also be a plastic
thermosetting such as epoxy or fiber reinforced polyester. He can too
be an aluminum plate. It can be foreseen that the protective element

The invention may also relate to other protective accessories concerning other parts of the body. In another preferred embodiment of the invention illustrated in figures 7 to 8, the device serves to protect the knee; and more specifically, the patella and head of the fibula, both of which are protruding parts particularly exposed during a fall in skating. These parts also have peculiarity of extending into different planes; the patella being substantially in the longitudinal plane I-I 'of the leg while the head of the fibula is in a plane offset on the side by an angle close to 90 degrees relative to the plane longitudinal. Figures 7 to 8 show in detail the knee protection device proposed as the best embodiment. For the sake of simplification, the references to the drawings will be used to designate the same means to which is added the prefix "1". Thus, the device will be designated 11, the flexible body will be designated 13 and the rigid or semi-rigid protective element will be designated 14 and so after.
longitudinal I-I' du dispositif.
Protection against shocks is provided by the
The
As shown more precisely in the embodiment of FIG. 8, the
holding the device can advantageously be supplemented by an extendable band
retaining rear 17 attached, preferably by sewing, on either side of the
The rigid or semi-rigid
Absorbed energy measurement tests were carried out to assess the effectiveness of the protective device of the invention comprising the padding of the invention by comparing it to a similar device comprising a padding traditional foam-based. For this, the device of the invention measured consisted to a knee protection device with padding gel, thick about 10 mm, such as that described with reference to Figures 6 and 7. The maximum force value undergone by the anvil is recorded after filtration of the parasitic vibrations. For the device of the invention, it was possible to measure a value of maximum force of approximately 4350 N. The value for a device without padding of the invention could be measured compared to approximately 30,000 N. We aknowledge therefore that the padding according to the invention provides a very significant absorption pressure peaks during an impact and therefore provides particularly protection effective.
partie fonctionnelle complémentaire étant supportée sur le volet opposé 232.Figures 9 and 10 illustrate another embodiment of the invention. The
device comprises a
second rabat 262.The
Other layers of support or padding could be provided on one either side of the shutters. This is how we can add a yoke comprising a hermetically sealed pouch containing a gel to locally improve the absorption capacity of the device. The yoke can be sewn together on one of the faces of the support layers 238, 239.
The
In the example shown, two clamping
Of course, the invention is not limited to the examples of the modes of preferred embodiments described above but may include other possible modes. For example, an elbow protection device can also be constructed according to the same principle as that of the invention.
The invention can find an application in other sports than those mentioned preferably like snowboarding, hockey, freestyle skiing, etc.
