Definitions
- the invention relates to a storage shelf according to the preamble of the first claim.
- a known storage shelf of this type (US-3 633 983) has a serving shelf as a storage shelf made of glass, the edges of which are covered all around with a profile strip which has a U-shaped groove in cross section, the base wall parallel to the narrow edges of the glass shelf run while their legs tightly overlap the adjacent side edges of the glass plate.
- the profile strips are glued together to form a closed frame on their abutting end faces.
- the disadvantage here is the need to produce several frame parts and their plug-in assembly on the glass plate edges and gluing the profile strips of the frame together.
- the invention has for its object to take measures in a storage shelf according to the preamble of the first claim, through which a simplified frame structure can be used and yet a secure mounting of the glass plate is ensured in the frame.
- a one-piece, all-round closed frame can be used, which is only L-shaped in cross section, one leg being directed radially inwards and tightly engaging the top of the glass plate, while the other leg is parallel to the outer cut edges of the glass plate.
- the glass plate is held in this frame, which is open on one side, by means of a curing compound which is subsequently introduced in the area of the gap between the edges of the glass plate and the leg of the frame which is parallel thereto and which in any case forms a firm connection with the plastic frame.
- This mass is preferably a relatively thin adhesive that flows at least partially into the depth of the gap.
- This mass is applied in such a way that the side edge of the glass plate is also covered along a narrow strip which faces away from the side edge which is overlapped by the radially inwardly directed leg of the frame.
- This inwardly directed leg is preferably provided with a collecting channel which catches residues of the adhesive which migrate downwards through the gap in the assembly position. This reliably prevents this adhesive from escaping onto the edge zone of the glass plate which is not covered by the inwardly directed leg.
- the collecting trough therefore preferably runs all the way round in order to achieve security against adhesive leakage at all points.
- the frame is rotated such that the inward leg lies in an approximately horizontal plane and the perpendicular leg is directed upward.
- the glass plate is inserted into this frame, which is open on one side, so that its upper side, which is at the top during operation, points downwards and rests on the radially inwardly directed leg.
- the mass acting as an adhesive is applied in the area of the gap which is formed between the upwardly directed leg and the narrow edge of the glass plate.
- the mass is a relatively low-viscosity adhesive that penetrates into the depth of the gap without, however, going through so far that the collecting channel provided on the inside is overfilled on the lower leg.
- the mass is applied in such an amount that the adjacent upward edge region of the glass plate is also covered. This mass part forms a further leg which, after hardening, reliably prevents the glass plate from being detached from the frame.
- a storage shelf as it is particularly suitable for refrigerators and can be inserted there into horizontal guide rails of an inner container to be cooled, consists of a glass plate 1, the narrow edges 2 are encircled by a frame 3.
- the frame 3 has a radially inward leg 3.1 which engages over the top 4 of the glass plate 1 which points upward in the usual operating position in the edge region.
- the frame 3 is made in one piece and closed all round, its cross section being L-shaped.
- the leg 3.2 of the frame 3 which is perpendicular to the radially inward direction is thus parallel to the cut edges 2 of the glass plate 1 and slightly protrudes from the underside 5 thereof which is directed downward in the operating position.
- a mass 6 is applied to the edge region of the underside 5 adjacent to the leg 3.2 in such a consistency that the gap formed between the cut edges 2 and the adjacent leg 3.2 is at least largely filled in and the edge area adjacent to the free end of the leg 3.2 is also covered by the mass 6.
- the mass 6 is in particular a relatively low-viscosity adhesive which in any case forms a firm connection with the material of the leg 3.2 and which hardens to such an extent that it securely supports the underside 5 of the glass plate 1 like a third leg of a U-profile.
- this leg 3.1 is equipped with a collecting trough 7 which absorbs excess mass.
- the collecting trough is therefore preferably formed all the way along the entire length of the leg 3.1, that is to say along the edge zone of the upper side 4 adjacent to the cutting edge 2.
- the frame 3 can already have a U-shaped cross section in the production state, one leg being shorter than the other.
- the dimension of the Glass plate can then be chosen so that its edge length is chosen as long as the frame measures from a free leg edge to the bottom of the opposite of the U-groove.
- the glass plate can then be inserted into the associated groove with one side edge and inserted past the free end of the opposite groove leg into the frame. By moving the glass plate by half the groove depth, the glass plate then remains at the relevant opposite edges in the effective range of the associated frame legs. For example, by pouring the gaps between the frame and the glass plate with a hardening mass, the glass plate is fixed in such a way that it can no longer detach itself from the area of action of the legs that cross it in this position.
- the frame 3 consists in particular of ABS (acrylic butadine styrene) and can thus be produced with a high-gloss, largely pore-free and therefore very smooth surface, which is particularly advantageous in refrigeration appliances for hygienic reasons.
- the securing of the glass plate 1 in the frame 3 serving 6 is preferably a polyurethane adhesive that forms a firm and permanent connection with the frame 3 after curing and due to the shrinkage occurring during curing remains tight with the bottom 5, unless it is in contact also adhered to it by adhesion.
- the L-profile of the frame 3 is thus supplemented in any case to a U-shaped profile.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a storage shelf according to the preamble of the first claim.
A known storage shelf of this type (US-3 633 983) has a serving shelf as a storage shelf made of glass, the edges of which are covered all around with a profile strip which has a U-shaped groove in cross section, the base wall parallel to the narrow edges of the glass shelf run while their legs tightly overlap the adjacent side edges of the glass plate. The profile strips are glued together to form a closed frame on their abutting end faces. The disadvantage here is the need to produce several frame parts and their plug-in assembly on the glass plate edges and gluing the profile strips of the frame together.
The invention has for its object to take measures in a storage shelf according to the preamble of the first claim, through which a simplified frame structure can be used and yet a secure mounting of the glass plate is ensured in the frame.
This object is achieved according to the invention by the characterizing features of the first claim.
In the construction of a storage shelf according to the invention, a one-piece, all-round closed frame can be used, which is only L-shaped in cross section, one leg being directed radially inwards and tightly engaging the top of the glass plate, while the other leg is parallel to the outer cut edges of the glass plate. The glass plate is held in this frame, which is open on one side, by means of a curing compound which is subsequently introduced in the area of the gap between the edges of the glass plate and the leg of the frame which is parallel thereto and which in any case forms a firm connection with the plastic frame. This mass is preferably a relatively thin adhesive that flows at least partially into the depth of the gap. This mass is applied in such a way that the side edge of the glass plate is also covered along a narrow strip which faces away from the side edge which is overlapped by the radially inwardly directed leg of the frame. This inwardly directed leg is preferably provided with a collecting channel which catches residues of the adhesive which migrate downwards through the gap in the assembly position. This reliably prevents this adhesive from escaping onto the edge zone of the glass plate which is not covered by the inwardly directed leg. The collecting trough therefore preferably runs all the way round in order to achieve security against adhesive leakage at all points. After the adhesive has cured, the storage shelf for the position of use can be turned so that the radially inward leg lies on the upward-facing side of the glass plate. This leg then also forms a stop edge for goods to be set up and prevents the free flow of liquid reaching this surface.
In the manufacture of a storage shelf designed in this way, the frame is rotated such that the inward leg lies in an approximately horizontal plane and the perpendicular leg is directed upward. The glass plate is inserted into this frame, which is open on one side, so that its upper side, which is at the top during operation, points downwards and rests on the radially inwardly directed leg. Then the mass acting as an adhesive is applied in the area of the gap which is formed between the upwardly directed leg and the narrow edge of the glass plate. The mass is a relatively low-viscosity adhesive that penetrates into the depth of the gap without, however, going through so far that the collecting channel provided on the inside is overfilled on the lower leg. The mass is applied in such an amount that the adjacent upward edge region of the glass plate is also covered. This mass part forms a further leg which, after hardening, reliably prevents the glass plate from being detached from the frame.
The invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of the basic representations of an exemplary embodiment.

A storage shelf, as it is particularly suitable for refrigerators and can be inserted there into horizontal guide rails of an inner container to be cooled, consists of a
In order to hold the
However, the
The
